Running My First 10K Race!

I ran my first 10K this past weekend! What a roller coaster of emotions throughout my journey from start the finish.

For a few months now, I’ve been thinking about signing up for a race. I missed the excitement from competing in competitive sports. So after mulling over it for months, I finally bit the bullet and signed up for a 10K race hosted by the city of Taoyuan.

Juliet’s Fitness Journey

My family used to travel to Taiwan almost every single year when I was in elementary and middle school. My aunts and uncles would squish my cheeks and exclaim, “They are so squishable! You are so cute!” My cousins would say to me, “Not as skinny as your sister! You’re a little chubby!” Those were my earliest memories of people commenting on my body, and it really affected the way I saw myself.

STRONGER with SELF Challenge: Final Thoughts

A few weeks ago, we joined the STRONGER with SELF challenge (link to our post) because we wanted to add something different to our fitness routines. Four weeks quickly passed and we’re at the end of the challenge. Neither of us actually finished the workouts – Juliet did not because she was on vacation for almost half the month of May, and Annie did not because she got lazy.

STRONGER with SELF Challenge: Week 1 Update

We are in the midst of Week 2 of the SELF Challenge, and wanted to check in with you guys.

Truth time: After we saw the workout, we thought that this challenge would be easy. But after the first day, we realized we were very wrong. Both of us have seen and done these exercises before, but the difference is that we go at our own pace and count our exercises by the number of reps. Now that we’re trying to doing as many reps (using good form!) in the allotted time, we definitely feel the burn.

STRONGER with SELF Challenge: 28-Day Fitness Program

We signed up for the Stronger With SELF Challenge. It’s a fun 28-day fitness program for all ages and fitness levels that includes a workout calendar and food recipes. The cool thing about these workouts is they’re all bodyweight exercises, so you can do them anywhere. They can also easily be modified to increase or decrease level of difficulty. If you’re looking to try something new because you’re getting bored of your own workouts or you want an added challenge on top of what you are already doing, then join us and sign up for this challenge! My Fitness Journey: A New Perspective

It’s been a hot second since I made a post about my fitness journey so I thought I’d write a little update on how things are going. Last year, I focused on having a consistent schedule that I followed so I knew what I’d be accomplishing each day at the gym. It helped me stay motivated. Towards the end of the year, my motivation started to dwindle because it became something I mindlessly did and I lost sight of the reason I went to the gym in the first place. It’s interesting how the mindset you have can completely change the amount of motivation you have to achieve something.
